The 2/3 year-long thematic study is Around the World. Students will be ‘traveling’ to each continent, and exploring the geography, history/culture, and natural world in each place. At the MIM, students will be introduced to the concept of cultural diffusion through objects from MIM’s collection (two spike lutes), which represent the transmission of musical ideas along the Silk Road during the first millennium CE (1,000–2,000 years ago).

At the Japanese Friendship Garden, students will explore the architecture and design of the garden, as well as learn about the cultural connections to the Garden’s sister city in Japan.
