Kerry Johnson
Special Education Teacher

Kerry Johnson, proud mom of Skyview students Jack and Ivy, is thrilled to once again put on her teaching hands (covered, doubtless, in dry erase marker marks!) and join the inspiring staff at Skyview School.  For eleven years, Kerry taught as a self-contained special education teacher in the Phoenix area, with ten of those years spent teaching in the Madison School District.  She particularly enjoys the task of helping struggling students find ways to achieve and shine so that they love coming to school each day.
In her personal life, Kerry enjoys spending time with her husband Brent, the kiddos, and their dogs, Betsy and Boomer, writing and working up songs with the other "Gurls" in her band, The Gurley Girls, traveling anywhere, teaching piano, cooking, hiking, and enjoying time with her one-of-a-kind family and friends.

Greetings!
I'm Joe and have been at Skyview since 2013, working as a Special Education Paraprofessional.  In January 2020, I received my certification and am now a Special Education Teacher at Skyview.
Before moving to Prescott, I studied Outdoor Education at Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. I have over ten years experience working with adults with special needs and developmental disabilities. I have worked as a behavior coach in the elementary school setting, mentored children through Arizona Children’s Association, and have been a Big Brother volunteer in Yavapai County since 2009. I’m currently enrolled at Yavapai College, and have lived in Prescott since 2008.

I live with my wife, Kate, and our two daughters, Bay & Joon. When not at Skyview I’m frequently on the disc-golf course with my two dogs or working around the house. Although I have many outdoor passions, none are as great as being on the river. I am happy to be part of the Skyview team and feel fortunate to work with such a dedicated community.

Hi!

I am Amy Cope, the Title One Reading Specialist!
After 10 years in kindergarten I am thrilled to move into this new role!  Teaching kids to read has always been a passion of mine, and I look forward to helping students gain their confidence and become skilled readers!
I have been in Prescott over 20 years and am a proud mom of my daughter, Jess (a SV graduate). I love to be outdoors and spend countless hours enjoying Prescott's beauty.

Hello, my name is Angela Heitzman.
I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and married my high school sweetheart in 1997. After finishing my bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Eastern Oregon University, we moved to Tucson where I taught first grade. After our first child was born, I left teaching to stay home with my children and earn a master’s degree in early literacy from the University of Arizona.
I have volunteered and worked part-time in elementary schools for several years. Following a few cross-country moves, we left upstate New York in 2014 to settle in Prescott. Before joining the Skyview community in 2020, I worked with preschool children at the Family Enrichment Center at Yavapai College.
I am so grateful for the welcoming atmosphere at Skyview, and look forward to many more years here!

Karie Hammond
Occupational Therapist
khammond@skyview.k12.az.us
Hi, I am Karie Hammond and I have been the occupational therapist here at Skyview since 2019.  I love the community and how the educators all work together and want what is best for all of the students
I have been an occupational therapist since 1996 and love helping people of all ages be as capable as they can be.  Here at Skyview, I mainly work on fine motor skills which of course includes handwriting, tying, using scissors, typing, using a ruler, and so much more.
I have 2 children, Alexandra and Dillon, 2 dogs, and a cat.  I have been married to my husband for 16 years. We love camping, traveling, hiking, and watching movies together.  I also love yoga, Reiki, and am working on my aromatherapy certification.
