Kerry Johnson
Special Education Teacher

Kerry Johnson, proud mom of Skyview students Jack and Ivy, is thrilled to once again put on her teaching hands (covered, doubtless, in dry erase marker marks!) and join the inspiring staff at Skyview School.  For eleven years, Kerry taught as a self-contained special education teacher in the Phoenix area, with ten of those years spent teaching in the Madison School District.  She particularly enjoys the task of helping struggling students find ways to achieve and shine so that they love coming to school each day.
In her personal life, Kerry enjoys spending time with her husband Brent, the kiddos, and their dogs, Betsy and Boomer, writing and working up songs with the other "Gurls" in her band, The Gurley Girls, traveling anywhere, teaching piano, cooking, hiking, and enjoying time with her one-of-a-kind family and friends.

Greetings!
I'm Joe and have been at Skyview since 2013, working as a Special Education Paraprofessional.  In January 2020, I received my certification and am now a Special Education Teacher at Skyview.
Before moving to Prescott, I studied Outdoor Education at Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. I have over ten years experience working with adults with special needs and developmental disabilities. I have worked as a behavior coach in the elementary school setting, mentored children through Arizona Children’s Association, and have been a Big Brother volunteer in Yavapai County since 2009. I’m currently enrolled at Yavapai College, and have lived in Prescott since 2008.

I live with my wife, Kate, and our two daughters, Bay & Joon. When not at Skyview I’m frequently on the disc-golf course with my two dogs or working around the house. Although I have many outdoor passions, none are as great as being on the river. I am happy to be part of the Skyview team and feel fortunate to work with such a dedicated community.

Susan grew up in Michigan and graduated in 1999 from ASU with her B.A. in Education.  Susan has taught first grade at Encanto Elementary school in the Osborn School District.   She has also taught ELL at Grandville Elementary school, in both a Kinder through 5th grade program and a 1st/2nd multi-age classroom.
In 2008, she was honored with the Arizona ELL Teacher of the Year Award, from the Arizona Department of Education. Susan has also worked as an expert consultant for an ADE High Intensity Summer School Program, training teachers and modeling ELL teaching strategies.  She has presented multiple times at the Office of English Language Acquisition Services (OELAS) conferences and teacher in-service trainings for the Humboldt School District.  Susan has endorsements in ESL, Early Childhood and K-8 Reading.
Susan loves working at Skyview, and seeing students grow in confidence and develop a love for reading. In between teaching, she has taken off time to raise her own two children, Paige and Mateo, who have attended Skyview since kindergarten. In her spare time she loves creating homemade things in the kitchen and gardening.  She also enjoys spending time with her husband Ramon, kids and dog, Diamond, having road trip adventures with their travel trailer.
