Ashley Fine has been working in school gardens for over seventeen years. Currently, she is a full-time garden educator at Skyview School where she teaches an integrated science and social studies garden-centered curriculum to kindergarten through eighth grade students. She works with the students and parent volunteers to maintain several edible school yards and a quarter acre food forest/native plant garden on campus. During the growing season, she helps facilitate a weekly student-run farm stand at Skyview school. Ashley also runs an after school cooking club and summer garden programs. She serves on the Steering Committee for Slow Food Prescott and helps organize events for a professional learning community made up of local garden educators. She has presented at several workshops and conferences, offering tools and perspectives to other school garden teachers and enthusiasts. Finally, Ashley is part of the Arizona Farm to School Collaborative and serves as a coach/ mentor for teams of Arizona educators who incorporate farm to school initiatives into their school programs. Outside of school, Ashley loves dancing, hiking, and making art for performances. She treasures spending time with her adult children, Noble and Sedona (both Skyview Alumni). Ashley is wholeheartedly committed to teaching kids, growing plants, building healthy/ vibrant food systems, and caring for her school and local community. She is grateful for her many years at Skyview and for the incredible family of educators and students she works with every day!
