Learning Expeditions

The Skyview curriculum is framed by learning expeditions. Compelling topics derived from content standards form the basis of learning expeditions. Learning expeditions feature linked investigations and intersecting content area and are created for real audiences. The multiple intelligences inform these expeditions, providing rich products in which content is expressed through a variety of intelligences. Expeditions require students to construct deep understanding and skills, while simultaneously fulfilling academic standards and goals related to the emotional intelligence.

Skyview students also engage in individual learning expeditions. Guided by the school’s annual theme, students select a topic of great personal interest and to which they are passionately connected. Classroom teachers navigate students through the process and families play an active role, supporting and assisting their child. Skyview’s individual learning expeditions emphasize evidence of applicable intelligences in final product presentations.
